Prof Anu Muhammad diagnosed with COVID-19

Renowned economist Professor Anu Muhammad has been diagnosed with Covid-19.

Anu, also the member secretary of the national committee to protect oil, gas, mineral resources, power, and ports, got the test results from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday, he told the media.

Bangladesh Garment Workers Solidarity President Taslima Akhter, also a close aide to Anu, disclosed the matter via a Facebook post saying that Anu’s wife, Shilpi Barua Bappy, and him tested positive for Covid-19 on the day of Eid-ul-Azha.

The couple are currently undergoing treatment at Mugda General Hospital in Dhaka.

Anu was admitted on Sunday while his wife Bappy was admitted to the hospital a day before. Earlier, she was admitted to DMCH after testing positive on July 28.

Prof Anu Muhammad, a noted professor of economics at Jahangirnagar University, said his wife was doing well.
