COVID-19 death toll surpasses 3,500 in Bangladesh

The death tally from coronavirus in Bangladesh reached 3,513 on Wednesday with the death of 42 more patients in the last 24 hours.

Besides, 2,995 new cases were confirmed during the period testing 14,751 samples, that took the total cases to 2,66,498.

So far, over 13 lakh samples have been tested and 20.4 percent have turned out to be positive.

Daily infection rate on Wednesday was recorded 20.3 percent.

The data was found in a press release sent by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

So far 1,53,089 patients have made full recovery from Covid-19 in Bangladesh with 1,117 who got cured in the last 24 hours.

Since March 18, 2,782 men and 731 women have died from the disease in the country. The mortality rate is 1.32 percent.

In the last 24 hours 27 died in Dhaka division, three in Chattogram, three Khulna, one in Barishal, four in Sylhet, two in Rangpur, and two more died in Mymensingh.

Of them, one was between 21 and 30 years, two were between 31 and 40, four between 41 and 50, 11 between 51 and 60 and 24 more above 60 years.

As the country passes the 23rd week of infection, 1,681 people lost their lives in Dhaka division, 819 in Chattogram, 226 in Rajshahi, 271 in Khulna, 135 in Barishal, 162 in Sylhet, 141 in Rangpur and 78 in Mymensingh division.

At present 19,730 are in isolation and 52,878 are home and institutionally quarantined.
