Covid-19: Bangladesh reports 44 new deaths

Bangladesh has recorded 44 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the number of total fatalities to 3,557.

Besides, 2,617 more have tested positive for the deadly virus over the same period, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 269,115, disclosed the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) through a press release on Thursday.

A total of 1,782 people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.

So far, a total of 154,871 patients — 57.55% of all the infected — have made full recovery from the disease across the country.

As many as 12,892 samples were collected from suspected Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours.

As many as 13,162 samples, including the pending ones, were tested in 87 authorized labs -- government and private -- across the country. Rangamati General Hospital PCR lab was newly added to the list.

With 2,617 of the tests coming back positive, the detection rate of new patients in the last 24 hours stood at 19.88%

To date, no fewer than 1,315,901 tests have been conducted in the country, leading to a whopping 20.45% infection rate as of yet.
