Three months' imprisonment will be given to those caught for giving their train tickets to another, the railways ministry said today.
The ministry issued a notice in this regard today where it said tickets are non-transferable.
"If any person sells or hands over their own, return and specific term tickets to another, they will be served three months' imprisonment or fine, or both," stated the notice.
On the other hand, if any passenger uses another person's ticket, they will be fined, it reads.
Requesting passengers to travel with tickets issued in their own name, the ministry asked passengers to purchase tickets online or using the designated mobile application.
