COVID-19: Bangladesh records 34 more deaths

The death toll from Covid-19 in Bangladesh rose to 3,625 with the death of 34 more patients in the last 24 hours until Saturday.

Besides, the health authorities detected 2,644 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 2,74,525, according to a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Country’s labs have so far tested 13,41,648 samples with 12,899 in the last 24 hours.

Besides, 1,012 patients made recovery during the period, taking the number of total recoveries to 1,57,635.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8.

Coronavirus cases were first reported in China in December last year.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.

Global COVID-19 case count has reached 21,159,730 as of Saturday morning, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University, reports Xinhua.

Besides, the deaths from coronavirus have reached 764,683 worldwide, according to CSSE data.

The worst-hit United States reported the most COVID-19 cases and deaths, standing at 5,313,055 and 168,448, respectively.

Brazil recorded 3,224,876 cases and 105,463 deaths, followed by India with more than 2.4 million cases.

Countries with more than 400,000 cases also include Russia, South Africa, Peru, Mexico and Colombia.
