Parents of prime accused in Savar schoolgirl killing arrested

Rapid Action Battalion arrested the parents of the prime accused in Savar schoolgirl killing case upon raiding in Manikganj sadar area early Friday.

The arrested are Abdur Rahman and Nazmun Nahar Siddique, said RAB officers.

Earlier police in a drive arrested a suspect in schoolgirl Nila killing case after raiding at Aricha in Manikganj Wednesday morning.

The arrested was Selim Paloan, 28, of Savar municipality area.

The prime accused of the case Mizanur Rahman, however, was yet to be arrested.

RAB-4 additional police superintendent Zamir Uddin said that the two latest arrested were accused in the case and were arrested in a raid at a village in Manikganj sadar area.

Nila Roy, a 14-year-old Class X student of a school in Savar, died from her injuries in a hospital two hours after Mizanur Rahman, 20, allegedly hacked her.

Nila’s brother Alok Roy said that Mizanur had been stalking his sister on her way to and from the school for about two years.

The girl was hacked to death allegedly by a stalker for ‘rejecting’ love proposal at Palpara under Savar upazila, on the outskirts of the capital, on Sunday evening.
