Two people, including a woman, were killed and five others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Khulna Highway in front of Arpara High School under Madhukhali upazila in Faridpur early today.
The deceased were identified as Moshraff Hossain (75), son of late Dinesh Munshi of Alandaga upazila and Momena Khatun (60), wife of Mokaram Hossain of Rail Colony area under Chuadanga.
Abdur Rahman, sub-inspector (SI) of Karimpur Highway Police Outpost said, "The accident took place when a Chuadanga-bound microbus was hit by a truck at Arpara High School area. The microbus passengers -- Moshraff Hossain and Momena Khatun -- died on the spot, while five others received injuries."
Four of the injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital while the remaining person was taken to Madhukhali Upazila Health Complex, he said.
Police seized the truck, but the driver managed to flee, added the SI.
