Covid-19: Bangladesh records 32 deaths, 2,230 new cases in 24hrs

Bangladesh has recorded 32 deaths and 2,230 fresh cases from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

The latest deaths take the overall death toll from the pandemic in the country to 6,448, according to a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.

The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected so far stands at 1.43%

The daily test positivity rate was 14.85%. A total of 15,018 samples were tested at 117 authorized laboratories across the country.

The total number of infections has now surged to 451,990.

Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 366,877 after another 2,266 patients were discharged from hospitals in the 24 hours till Tuesday morning.

Among the 32 deaths, 25 are male and seven are female. So far, 4,955 men (76.85%) and 1,493 women (23.15%) have died from Covid-19 across the country.

Of the victims 31 died at different hospitals and one at home.

The novel coronavirus broke out in China’s Wuhan city in late December last year and quickly spread throughout the world, becoming a pandemic in less than three months.

The fast-spreading coronavirus has claimed more than 1,403,683 lives and infected 59,605,778 people across the world till Tuesday afternoon, according to Worldometer.

As many as 41,240,095 people have recovered from the deadly virus which has spread to 218 countries and territories across the planet.
