A garment worker has fallen victim to an acid attack allegedly by her ex-husband in Jamgarh area of Savar’s Ashulia.
The incident happened around 10:30pm on Wednesday.
Dolna Akhter Rima, 18, was later rescued by locals and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Locals also detained Dolna’s ex-husband Ranju Mia, from the spot and handed him over to the police.
Confirming the matter, Ashulia police station Sub Inspector (SI) Iqbal Hossain said that a case will be soon filed in this regard.
Dolna’s father Dulal Sheikh, from Melandah village of Jamalpur, said in 2018, her daughter got married to Ranju Mia who hailed from the same area. They were having fights since then and finally got divorced three months ago.
After that, Dolna had been working in the factory of The Dress and Ideas from a rented house in Jamgarh area. On Wednesday night, Dolna was returning home from work when her husband threw acid on her, he added.
