Eight people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours (till 8:00am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The total number of deaths has now reached 7,950 and the death rate stands at 1.5 percent.
At least 656 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of infections to 5,29,687, added the release.
The current positivity rate is 4.26 percent and the total positivity rate stands at 15.13 percent.
A total of 15, 410 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours.
At least 617 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 4,74, 472 and the recovery rate is now 89.58 percent.
All the eight deceased were men. Of them, one was between 31-40 years old, one was within 41-50, one within 51-60 and the rest were above 60 years old, added the release.
