BRTA bans ridesharing service by motorcycles for two weeks

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority on Wednesday issued a circular imposing a ban on carrying passengers by motorcycles under the ridesharing services for at least next two weeks.

The bus operators started carrying 50 per cent of passengers against the capacity of buses with a 60 per cent increase in fare from Wednesday.

The circular said that against this backdrop, until further notice [for the time being for two weeks no passengers would be carried by motorcycles under the ridesharing services.

Other transports would also have to follow the government directives of carrying 50 per cent passengers against the capacity of each vehicle following health rules,’ it said.
