Bangladesh recorded an additional 77 deaths from COVID-19 and 5,343 infections in the past 24 hours on Saturday, counting the death toll to 9,661 and infections to 6,78,937.
It was the highest number of COVID-19 deaths for a single day in Bangladesh after the coronavirus was reported in the country on March 8 last year.
A Directorate General of Health Services press release came up with the latest COVID-19 data.
Among the deceased, 53 were male and 24 were female patients.
Some 26,077 specimens were tested at 243 labs in the 24 hours across the country.
A total of 3,837 patients were declared free from novel coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours totalling the recovery to 5,72,378.
