Govt could extend lockdown for another week

The government is considering extending the ongoing "countrywide lockdown" for another week as Covid-19 infection is still on the rise.

A meeting has been called on Monday to review the lockdown situation and the decision for extending the lockdown might be taken there.

A senior official of the Cabinet Division today said, "Corona infections are still high. So the lockdown could extend for another week. A decision may be taken in the meeting on Monday, April 19."

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain told Prothom Alo that there was a suggestion to extend the lockdown and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will give the final decision which will be announced after the meeting on April 19.
