Covid-19 kills 22, infects 261 more in Bangladesh

Bangladesh logged an additional 22 Covid-19 deaths and 261 infections in the past 24 hours until Saturday 8:00am counting the death toll to 12,124 and infections to 7,79,796 in the country.

A Directorate General of Health Services handout signed by the DGHS additional director general (administration) Nasima Sultana came up with the latest Covid update.

Among the deceased, 17 were males and five were female patients.

Some 3,758 specimens were tested in the timeline in all 459 testing labs across the country.

Bangladesh had tested a total of 57,02,286 specimens as of May 15.

A total of 964 patients were recovered from the Covid infection in the past 24 hours. The total number of recovered patients has risen to 7,21,435.

Of the 22 deceased, 13 died in Dhaka, 8 in Chattogram, and one in Khulna division.

12 of the deceased were aged above 60 years, six between 51 years and 60 years and the remaining four were aged between 41 years and 50 years.

Bangladesh on March 8, 2020 reported the first Covid-19 positive cases while the first death was logged ten days later on March 18, 2020.
