19 die at Covid units in Rajshshi, Khulna

A total of 19 patients died at the Covid units of Rajshshi Medical College Hospital and Covid Dedicated Hospital in Khulna in 24 hours ending Monday morning.

Of them 13 died in RMCH and six in the Khulna hospital, the authorities said.

A text message sent to reporters by the Covid Dedicated Hospital in Khulna said that six people — five Covid positive patients and the remaining one having symptoms of Covid infection — died in the hospital during the time.

13 more patients — six were positive for Covid-19 and seven having symptoms of Covid infection — died at the Covid units of RMCH in the past 24 hours ending Monday 8:00am, RMCH deputy director Saiful Ferdous told New Age.

He said that six of the dead are from the boarding district Chapainawabganj, three each were from Rajshahi and Naogaon districts, and one from Natore district.

According to RMCH officials, a total of 216 patients died in the Covid units of the hospital in the ongoing month while 112 were Covid positive patients.

Saiful Ferdous said that 62 new patients were admitted to the hospital’s Covid units in the past 24 hours. This is the highest number of people admitted in a single day at the Covid units of the hospital since last year. A total of 402 patients were taking treatment at the units, now having 309 beds.

Of them, 180 patients were positive for Covid-19 while the rest ones were taking treatment at the hospital’s Covid units with symptoms.

Deputy director Saiful Ferdous told that 245 out of 556 samples were tested positive for Covid-19 at the two labs of the Rajshahi Medical College and RMCH in the last 24 hours.
