Covid kills 78, infects 4,636 more in Bangladesh

Covid-19 killed an additional 78 people and infected 4,636 more in the past 24 hours until 8:00am Monday.

With the latest tally, the death toll from Covid hits 13,626 and infections 856,304.

The daily Covid situation update by the Directorate General of Health Services came up with the statistics.

The number of infection is the highest in 68 days, according to government data.

Among the deceased, 56 are male and 22 female patients.

Of the 78 deceased, 72 died at hospitals and six died at their homes, according to the government statistics.

A total of 24,057 samples have been tested in the timeline. Bangladesh had tested 63,51,791 samples as of June 21.

A total of 2,827 people recovered from the viral disease totalling the number to 785,482.

As the number of Covid cases and deaths is on the increasing trend, the government on Monday imposed strict restrictions in seven districts in Dhaka division for seven days beginning Tuesday morning.

The districts are Manikganj, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Gazipur, Madaripur, Rajbari and Gopalganj.

The country witnessed deaths of 82 people in Covid infection in 24 hours ending Sunday 8:00am.

Our correspondents in Rajsahshi and Khulna reported that a total of 19 patients, including 12 Covid positive patients and seven having symptoms of Covid infection, died at the Covid units of Rajshshi Medical College Hospital and Covid Dedicated Hospital in Khulna in 24 hours ending Monday morning.
