Bangladesh logs 187 daily Covid deaths

Bangladesh logs an additional 187 daily deaths from Covid and 12,148 more cases in 24 hours until Friday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 17,465 and infections to 10,83,922.

Among the deceased, 113 are male and 74 female patients.

A Directorate General of Health Services release confirmed the statistics.

The daily test positivity reate is 28.96 per cent.

A total of 41,947 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 627 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 71,86,367 samples as of July 16.

In the timeline, 8,536 recovered from the viral disease during the timeline totalling the recovery to 914,343.

A total of 147 died in public hospitals, 28in private hospitals and 12died at their homes, according to the government statistics.

Besides death of Covid patients, reports received from different districts of the country said that a good number of patients had died with Covid symptoms at the Covid units in hospitals there.

Reports received from Rajshahi, Khulna, Kushtia, Barishal, Chattogram, Satkhira, Mymensingh, Tangail and Kishoreganj said that a total of 87 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in the district in 24 hours till Tuesday morning.

Of the deceased, 54 were Covid positive patients, 31 had symptoms and two others had post-Covid complications.

Among the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death of 68 people while Khulna logged the second highest of 39 people in the timeline.

Among the deceased, one aged more than 100 years, four from 91 to 100 years, 12 from 81 to 90 years, 30 from 71 to 80 years, 54 from 61 to 70 years, 36 from 51 to 60 years, 30 from 41 to 50 years, 11 from 31 to 40 years, seven from 21 to 30 years, and two aged from 11 to 20 years, said the DGHS release.
