Covid claims 228 more, infects 11,291 in Bangladesh

Bangladesh logged 228 more Covid deaths and an additional 11,291 cases in 24 hours ending Sunday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 19,274 and infections to 11,64,635 since it had recorded the first death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 30.04 per cent while.

Among the deceased, 125 are male and 103 female are patients.

A total of 37,587 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 639 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 74,55, 281 samples as of July 25.

In the past 24 hours, 10,584 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 9,98,923.

Of the deceased, 174 died in public hospitals, 40 in private hospitals and 14 died at their homes, according to the government statistics.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 69 people followed by 50 in Khulna, 40 in Chattogram, 16 in Rangpur, 6 in Barishal, 21 in Rajshahi, 15 in Mymensingh and 11 in Sylhet divisions.

The daily Covid update of the Directorate General of Health Services came up with the statistics.

Among the deceased, two aged from 91 to 100 years, six from 81 to 90 years, 33 from 71 to 80 years, the highest 70 from 61 to 70 years, 50 from 51 to 60 years, 34 from 41 to 50 years, 22 from 31 to 40 years, eight from 21 to 30 years, two aged from 11 to 20 years and one aged from 0 to 10 years, said the DGHS release.

Besides the death of Covid patients, reports received from different districts of the country said that a good number of patients had died with Covid symptoms at the Covid units in hospitals there.

A total of 110 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in Khulna, Rajshahi, Kushtia, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Barishal, Chattogram, Satkhira and Mymensingh in 24 hours ending Sunday morning.

Of the deceased, 63 were Covid patients and 47 had symptoms, according to the reports.
