Rohingya ‘robber’ killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’

An alleged Rohingya robber gang leader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion at Damdamia of Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar on early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Nuru, 40, resident of Muchhni Rohingya camp of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar.

RAB-15 deputy commander Tanvir Hassan told that acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in Damdamia area of Teknaf.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers the robbers opened fire on them that triggered the gunfight, the RAB officer said.

When the gunfight was over, the RAB team recovered the body of Nuru from the spot, the RAB officer said, adding that they also recovered three guns, one pistol and some bullets from the spot.
