Bangladesh logs record daily Covid deaths of 264

Bangladesh logged the highest daily Covid deaths of 264 people in 24 hours until Thursday morning.

The country also logged 12,744 fresh Covid cases in the timeline.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 21,902 and infections to 13,22,654 since it had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 27.12 per cent.

Among the deceased, 140 are male and 124 female are patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 46,995 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 705 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 79,95,678 samples as of August 5.

In the past 24 hours, 15,786 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 11,56,943.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 87 and Chattogram logged 56 deaths.

Reports received from Khulna, Rajshahi, Barishal, Chattogram, Satkhira, Mymensingh and Tangail said that a total of 81 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in the districts in in 24 hours till Thursday morning.

Of the deceased, 28 were Covid patients and 53 had symptoms.
