Everything opened for the sake of livelihood: Health Minister

Health Minister Zahid Maleque today said that everything has been opened in consideration of people's livelihood.

"The lockdown has been lifted in the interest of livelihood and to avoid an economic decline. Please, follow health guidelines," Zahid Maleque said while participating in a virtual discussion on National Mourning Day at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

Referring to the current vaccine situation, he said, "We will get six crore doses from China by this November. Vaccines are coming from other sources as well. The inoculation drive will be accelerated if vaccine supplies remain stable."

"However, all must continue to follow health guidelines, such as wearing masks and maintaining distancing," he added.

Among those who attended the event were Prof Sharfuddin Ahmed, vice chancellor of BSMMU; AFM Ruhul Amin, former health minister; Syed Modasser Ali, chairman of Bangladesh Medical Research Council; and Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, president of Bangladesh Medical Association.
