At least six people were killed as a covered van and a CNG-run auto rickshaw collided head-on on Dhaka -Sylhet highway at Nasratpur gate point under Shayestaganj in Habiganj Monday morning.
Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. All the deceased — four men and two women — were in the auto-rickshaw.
Shayestaganj highway police officer-in-charge Md Mainul Islam said that the Alipur-bound auto-rickshaw from Shayestaganj collided head-on with a Sylhet-bound covered van from Dhaka at Nasratpur gate point at about 7:45am, leaving all the six of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot.
He said that they and the fire service rescuers, on information, recovered the bodies and sent them to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital for post-mortem examination.
