Covid-19 claims 174 more in Bangladesh

Bangladesh recorded an additional Covid death of 174 more people and 6,959 infections in 24 hours until Monday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 24,349 and infections to 14,25,861 since it had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 21.08 per cent.

Among the deceased, 90 are male and 84 female are patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 33,015 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 707 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 84,41,536 samples as of August 16.

In the past 24 hours, 9,268 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 13,01,966.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 70 and Chattogram logged 97 deaths.

Reports received from Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Kushtia, Barishal, Chattogram, Satkhira and Khulna said that a total of 50 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in the districts in 24 hours till Monday morning.

Of them, 29 were Covid-19 patients, 20 had Covid symptoms and the remaining one had post-Covid complications.
