BCL activists storm into hospital, hack journalist

A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League activists in Chuadanga allegedly hacked a journalist for the second time in a day storming into the emergency department of the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital in the district town Monday evening.

Injured Sohel Rana Dalim, 36, a staff correspondent of the Daily Samayer Samikaran, had been hacked by the attackers for the first time earlier in the same evening.

The victim said that he was on the way to his workplace at around 8:15pm by his motorcycle. His motorcycle hit another motorcycle in front of Abdullah City Market by Emergency Road in the town. Following this, an altercation triggered between the victim and BCL leader Raju.

‘At one stage his cohorts hit me with sharp weapons from behind. Later, I managed an auto-rickshaw and went to the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital. Meanwhile, Raju and his cohorts stormed into the emergency department and stabbed me,’ Sohel Rana said.

Chuadanga Sadar Hospital doctors told reporters that the victim needed more than 150 stiches at places in his body.

He is presently undergoing treatment at the surgery ward of the hospital and now he is out of danger, doctors added.

Chuadanga Sadar police station officer-in-charge Abu Zihad Fakrul Alam Khan said that they had already arrested BCL leader Raju in this connection.

He said that the process of filing a case in this regard was under process, he said adding, ‘We are trying to arrest all the offenders in this connection.’
