Covid-19 claims 159 more, infects 6,566 in Bangladesh

Bangladesh recorded an additional Covid death of 159 more people and 6,566 infections in 24 hours until Thursday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 24,878 and infections to 14,47,210 since it had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 17.64 per cent.

Among the deceased, 76 are male and 83 are female patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 37,227 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 707 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 85,59,054 samples as of August 19.

In the past 24 hours, 10,153 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 13,37,181.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 50 and Chattogram logged 38 deaths.
