Hasan Azizul Haque, a renowned fiction writer who had been sick for almost a month, was taken to Dhaka from Rajshahi on Saturday as his physical condition did not improv.
An air ambulance carrying Hasan Azizul Haque left Rajshahi Airport for Dhaka at about 10:30am.
Professor Haque will take treatment under Nazrul Islam, cardiology specialist at the National Heart Institute in Dhaka.
Rajshahi University teachers and members of his family, including Fazle Hossain Badshah, lawmaker of Rajshahi-2 constituency and general secretary of the Workers Party, were present at the airport to see off the writer.
Earlier, on August 18, Hasan Azizul Haque’s son, RU biochemistry and molecular sciences department associate professor Imtiaz Hasan, shared news of his father’s illness in a Facebook post.
