Drugs case: Pori Moni sent to jail on completion of one-day remand

Film actress Pori Moni was sent to jail today on completion of her one-day remand, in the third phase, in a case filed with Banani Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.

She was earlier placed on six-day remand in two phases in the same case.

Criminal Investigation Department did not submit any remand prayer for her in the case.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ashek Imam sent her to a women's prison in Gazipur after CID Inspector Kazi Golam Mostafa, also investigation officer of the case, produced her with a forwarding report.

In the forwarding report, the IO said Pori Moni gave important information about the recovery of narcotics from her home which was being verified. If she gets bail, she will tamper with the investigation and can leave the country. So, the IO appealed to the court to confine her in jail until the investigation is completed.

Defence did not file any petition seeking bail in the case.

On August 5, Pori Moni and her associate Ashraful Islam Dipu were shown arrested in the case filed by Rapid Action Battalion under the Narcotics Control Act.
