Covid-19 claims 117 more, infects 5,717 in Bangladesh

Covid claimed 241 more people and infected 5,117 more in 24 hours until Monday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 25,399 and infections to 14,67,715 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 15.54 per cent.

Among the deceased, 53 are male and 64 female are patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 36,789 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 705 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 86,86,306 samples as of August 23.

In the past 24 hours, 8,982 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 13,72,856.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 40 and Chattogram logged 29 deaths.
