Covid-19 claims 114 more, infects 4,966 in Bangladesh

Covid claimed 114 more people and infected 4,966 more in 24 hours until Wednesday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 25,627 and infections to 14,77,930 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 14.76 per cent.

Among the deceased, 62 are male and 52 female are patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 33,640 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 705 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 87,54,654 samples as of August 25.

In the past 24 hours, 7,808 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 13,89,571.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 34 and Chattogram logged 29 deaths.

Reports received from Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Kushtia, Barishal, Chattogram, Satkhira and Khulna said that at least 37 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in the districts across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

Among them, 19 were Covid patients and 18 had symptoms.
