Covid claims 94, infects 3,724 more in Bangladesh

Covid claimed lives of 94 more people and infected 3,724 in Bangladesh in 24 hours ending Monday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 26,109 and infections to 14,97,261 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 12.07 per cent.

Among the deceased, 45 are male and 49 are female patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 30,855 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 789 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 89,00,248 samples as of August 30.

In the past 24 hours, 6,186 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 14,21,883.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 43 and Chattogram logged 27 deaths.

A least 35 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Kushtia, Barishal, Chattogram and Satkhira.

Among them, 19 were Covid patients, 15 had symptoms and the remaining one had post-Covid complications.
