No more PEC, JSC exams from 2023

Education Minister Dipu Moni has said that there will be no Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Junior School Certificate (JSC) examinations from 2023.

Annual exams will also start from class four, she told a press briefing on the National Curriculum Outline at the secretariat on Monday afternoon.

She added that there will be no group division in classes nine and ten.

She added subject-based group divisions -- such as Humanitarian, Science and Commerce -- will be withdrawn and an integrated curriculum will be introduced for classes nine and ten, according to media reports.

The group division will be applied from classes 11 and 12, she said.

Reports also quoted the minister as saying that the name and grading system of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam may also change.

She also said that the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) test results may come after averaging the results of finals exams of classes 11 and 12.
