Bangladesh has recorded its lowest daily test positivity rate for Covid-19 in the last 18 months.
Some 15,580 samples were tested at 829 labs around the country in the 24 hours between 8am Friday and 8am Saturday, yielding an infection rate of 1.88%, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
On April 2, 2020, the test positivity rate was 1.42%.
In addition, the country logged six more deaths and 293 new cases from Covid-19 in the 24 hours.
With this, the country's death toll rose to 27,752, and total cases to 1,565,174.

This development also marks the continuation of the ongoing trend of single-digit percentage infection rate in the country.
With this, the daily test positivity rate has stayed below 5% for 26 consecutive days, while the overall infection rate in the country stands at 15.53%.
During the same period, 442 more patients recovered across the country, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,527,333.
The seven-day moving average of single-day deaths in Bangladesh was 11.14 on Saturday.
Six deaths were reported in Dhaka, and one each in Chittagong, Khulna, and Sylhet.
Of the new patients, Dhaka logged 202 cases, the highest among the divisions, followed by Chittagong with 38.
Meanwhile, the latest figures have put the recovery rate at 97.58% and the mortality rate at 1.77%.
Around 37.74 million people in the country have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine. Among them, some 18.75 million had taken both doses till Thursday, DGHS data shows.
Bangladesh reported its first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a strain of coronavirus named Sars-CoV-2, on March 8 last year. The first death was reported 10 days later.
