One killed, two injured in explosion at Chittagong home

One person has been killed and two others injured in a fire following an explosion at the ground floor of a building in Chittagong’s Baluchhara.

The incident was reported from a three-story building in the area around 10 am on Sunday, said Chittagong Fire Service Assistant Director Farid Ahmed Chowdhury.

The deceased has been identified as Md Faruk alias Akash, 27.

Three people were taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) with 70% burn injuries, reports UNB.

One of them was declared dead upon arrival, said CMCH Police outpost Sub-Inspector Nurul Alam Ashek.

Two firefighting units rushed to the scene and put out the flames, said senior fire service official Farid.

According to the fire service, the blast may have been caused by a gas line leak but nothing could be confirmed until the completion of a probe.
