Bangladesh reports 12 more Covid deaths, 9,500 cases

Covid-19 claimed the lives of 12 more patients and infected 9,500 others across Bangladesh in 24 hours ending Wednesday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 28,1764 and infections to 16,42,294 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The day’s test positivity rate is 25.11 per cent.

10 of the deceased are male patients while the remaining two are female patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 37,830 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 855 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 1,19,66,289 samples as of January 19.

In the past 24 hours, 473 patients recovered from the viral disease totalling the recovery to 15,54,268.

Eight of the deaths were reported in Dhaka division while two deaths from Chattogram and one death was reported from each of Khulna and Mymensingh divisions.
