Wife of pilot Abid passes away

Dhaka, Mar 23 (Just News): Afsana Khanam, wife of US-Bangla plane crash victim pilot Abid Sultan, died at a Dhaka hospital this morning.

She was on life support at National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Agargaon a day after she suffered a stroke on Sunday.

She died around 9:30am, Khorshed Mahmood, a doctor of the hospital, said.

Her namaz-e-janaza will be held after Asr prayers today at Gausul Azam mosque of Uttara-13, said Mahmood, also brother of pilot Abid.

After janaza, she will be buried beside her husband’s grave at the Banani military graveyard in the capital.
Pilot Abid Sultan along with his four other cabin crew members of the ill-fated US-Bangla flight died in the plane crash at Tribhuban International Airport in Kathmandu on March 12.

US-Bangla flight BS211 took off from Dhaka on March 12 with 32 Bangladeshis, 33 Nepalese, and one each from the Maldives and China.

At least 49 people, including 26 Bangladeshis, were killed when the flight BS211, a 76-seater Bombardier Dash 8 Q-400, slammed on an empty field, caught fire, and came to a rest on a football pitch. It left a trail of twisted metal and scattered luggage.
