Dhaka, Mar 27 (Just News): The nation celebrated the 48th Independence and National Day on Monday with due respect.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led the nation in paying rich tributes to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing wreaths at the National Mausoleum at Savar in the morning marking the day.
After placing the wreaths, the President and the Prime Minister stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memories of the martyrs of the Great War of Liberation in 1971.
On her return from the memorial at Savar, the Prime Minister paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his portrait in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina hoisted the national flag and led the nation in singing national anthem 'Amar Sonar Bangla" simultaneously at Bangabandhu National Stadium here around 8:00 am.
She also released a commemorative postage stamp, a first-day cover and a data card, marking the Independence Day.
Sheikh Hasina greeted the freedom fighters of the country on the occasion.
