Five people were dead and four others were injured when a truck collided head-on with a human hauler, locally known as laguna, on Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway in Sirajganj early today.
The deceased are Mokul Hossain (35) and Monir Hossain (34) of Chotpaka village and Mokbul Hossaon (35) and Abdul Halim of Basabaria village under Bagatipara Police Station of Natore and Haider Ali (40) of Jumaigarh village under Gurudaspur Police Station of the district.
Imran Rahman, additional superintendent of police (Raiganj circle) in Sirajganj, told that, "Around 2am, some labourers boarded the laguna on their way to Natore."
As the leguna reached near Goja Bridge, it collided head-on with a stone-laden truck coming from the opposite direction, our Pabna correspondent reports quoting the police official.
Four people died on the spot and five others were injured, Additional Superintendent Imran said.
Later, one of the injured died while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Police seized both the laguna and truck from the spot.
