Children aged 5-12 likely to get Covid vaccine shots from July-end

The health authorities will likely start their campaign to inoculate children aged 5-12 against Covid-19 towards the end of July, according to Health Minister Zahid Maleque.

Maleque was speaking at a meeting with the heads of agencies under the ministry on Wednesday.

The government would receive vaccines for the campaign by mid-July, he said.

The health ministry would coordinate with the education ministry in this regard, Maleque added.

The minister said the government was concerned about the recent surge in Covid-19 cases but not alarmed, as it was prepared to combat the spread of the virus.

He recommended people wear masks at their educational institutes or workplaces and also while commuting.

He also urged all unvaccinated people to get inoculated as soon as possible.
