Petrol pumps should be closed one day a week, Prime Minister's Energy Adviser Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury today (July 18, 2022) proposed in a meeting at the Prime Minister's Office in Dhaka.
He also recommended that some government and private office operations could be done virtually.
Shop owners were urged to close shops at 8pm.
He added that power will be distributed through area-wise load shedding as per schedule across the country from tomorrow.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has called an emergency press conference at the Secretariat at 3:30 pm today. The state minister will discuss these issues there, according to sources.
