BNP getting perplexed seeing mega projects’ implementation: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is getting perplexed now as mega projects are being implemented in the country.

“The heartburning of BNP leaders is yet to be eased but it is increasing day by day since the Padma Bridge has been constructed,” he told a press conference at Setu Bhaban here this morning.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said many mega projects, including metro rail, the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman tunnel being constructed beneath the Karnaphuli River, will be launched in coming days.

So, he said, the BNP leaders are getting perplexed seeing the implementation of these projects.

Responding to a statement of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir that power crisis grips the country due to unchecked corruption, the AL general secretary said power outage is temporary.

“The daydream of BNP to oust the government will turn into a nightmare soon,” he added.

He said the BNP leaders, who are apt in corruption, smell graft in everything, while making falsehood about everything has now become a daily routine of the BNP.

Quader said the country’s people know better that energy crisis is prevailing across the world while the Ukraine-Russia war has intensified this situation.

Due to the impact of the war, the energy market has become extremely volatile and considering this situation, the government has taken some precautionary measures so that the country's economy does not face any major economic setback, he said.

The AL general secretary said the BNP leaders are not talking about any solution to this global crisis but are trying to mislead people by raising imaginary allegation of graft.

The BNP leaders are also hatching plots to provoke the calm people but their lying and conspiracy are now clear to the nation, he said.

Mentioning that the country’s people never believe the BNP’s statements, Quader said the leadership of the ruling Awami League during any crisis or disaster is tested now.

He said while the whole world is struggling to deal with the coronavirus crisis, The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina government has kept the country’s economy smooth by addressing the pandemic.

The country’s people know very well that Awami League under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is far ahead of any other party in tackling any crisis, the road transport and bridges minister said.

So, he said, they will not fall into the trap of the conspiracy the BNP is hatching to instigate people by making falsehood and propaganda.

Even, the people kept trust in the Sheikh Hasina government in the past and is still doing so, Quader said.

He hoped that the people would cooperate with the government amid the power crisis although the BNP could not understand the world situation and reality.

Quader also hoped that the power crisis will be resolved soon under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
