Eight people were burnt in a fire following an explosion at a shop in Dhaka's Turag area this morning.
The injured -- Mizanur Rahman(35), Alamgir (23), Shaheen (25), Nur Hossain (55), rickshaw garage owner Gazi Mazharul Islam (40), Shafiqul Islam (25), Al Amin (35) and Masum Mia (38) -- were rushed to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Condition of most of the patients are critical, hospital sources said.
The explosion took place at the scrap material shop in Kamarpara area around 11:30am when some perfume bottles somehow came in contact with fire, said Shafiqul Islam, who took the injured to the hospital.
The fire spread to an adjacent rickshaw garage also, he added.
Dewan Azad, duty officer of Fire Service's control room, said on information two units rushed to the spot and douse the fire.
