A leader of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was shot dead by criminals in Rangamati's Naniarchar upazila this morning.
The slain UPDF leader, Subah Chakma, 65, had been staying in Rangipara area of the upazila for a long time for organisational work, UPDF spokesperson Angya Marma told.
According to police and locals, he went to a shop in Rangipara area to have tea around 9:30am. After a while, a group of five to six criminals stormed the shop, shot him at point blank range and left, reports our Rangamati correspondent.
Contacted, Md Sujan Howlader, officer-in-charge of Naniarchar Police Station, said a police team had been sent to the spot, and that he would be able to give details later.
