2 women of a family found dead at their home in Barishal

The bodies of two women were recovered from their house in Babuganj upazila of Barishal district yesterday night.

The deceased have been identified as Ripa Akter, 23, and her husband's grandmother Lalman Nessa, 110, of Bhutherdia village under Kedarpur union in the upazila.

Saiful Islam, Ripa's husband, said he received a call from their house around 9:00pm yesterday informing him that a thief entered their house.

"After receiving the news, my father Mosharraf Hossain and I quickly went to the house and saw that the door was closed. We broke open a window and entered the house and saw that Ripa, my wife, Lalman Nessa, my grandmother and Minara Begum, my mother, were lying unconscious on the bed. We rushed them to the hospital where the on-duty doctor declared my wife and my grandmother dead," said Saiful.

Minara Begum, 55, is now being treated at Babuganj Health Complex.

Babuganj Upazila Health Complex's doctor Sadeka Islam said Ripa Akter and Lalman Nessa died before they were brought to the hospital, while Minara is being treated for poisoning, but her condition is critical.

Babuganj Police Station's Sub-Inspector Azad said they found a hole in the wall of the house through which someone could have entered, but other than that they did not find anything inside the house that would arouse suspicion
