BGB-BGP conference starts in Cox's Bazar

A regional commander level conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) started in Cox's Bazar this morning.

A 15-member BGB delegation led by Brig Gen Najm-Us-Sakib, the regional commander of BGB Cox's Bazar Region and a 16-member BGP delegation led by Police Brigadier General Htet Lwin are attending the conference, according to a BGB press release.

Both sides will discuss drug trafficking, illegal intrusion, transnational crimes, border security though information sharing, coordinated patrolling, among other issues.

BGB members greeted the Myanmar delegation as they arrived at Shapuree Island around 9:00am.

The Myanmar delegation will leave the country following the end of the conference tomorrow and the signing of the joint declaration.
