Quota protesters give ultimatum to publish gazette

Dhaka, May 13 (Just News): Quota protesters on Sunday gave the government an ultimatum to publish a gazette notification by abolishing quota system in government jobs as per the Prime Minister's announcement by this afternoon.

If government fails to publish the gazette, they will begin indefinite strikes from tomorrow (Monday) at all educational institutes across the country, said Nurul Haque Nur, co-convener Bangladesh General Students Rights Protection Alliance.

Meanwhile, they observed two-hour strike from 11am to 1pm in colleges and universities across the country on Sunday by suspending all classes and examinations.

The agitated students hold a human chain on Dhaka University campus demanding immediate issuance of gazette notification abolishing quota system in government jobs as per the Prime Minister's announcement.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Bangladesh General Students Rights Protection Alliance gave the government a 24-hour ultimatum to publish a gazette notification.

Convener of the alliance Hasan Al Mamun came up with the announcement from a press briefing as the government failed to publish a gazette on by Thursday.
