Dhaka, July 18 (Just News): Left Democratic Alliance (LDA), a platform of eight left-leaning organisations, announced their formation today ahead of the upcoming parliamentary election.
LDA was floated through a press conference at Mukti Bhaban-- headquarter of Communist Party of Bangladesh.
It demanded formation of a neutral election time government and reorganising the election commission following discussions with all political parties and stakeholders.
“The entire election system has turned farcical. There is no rule of law in the country,” CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim alleged at the press conference.
“Opposition parties and dissidents are being oppressed as the government keeps continuing torture, filing of false cases, arrest, remand, enforced disappearance and killing to stay in power,” he added.
The new alliance will wage movements for holding a free, fair and credible general election, Selim said.
The present crisis and sorry state of the country will not be resolved through alternative change in state power between Awami League and BNP, Saiful Huq, general secretary of the Revolutionary Workers Party and the maiden coordinator of the left alliance said.
In a written statement, Saiful Huq, general secretary of the Revolutionary Workers Party and the coordinator of the left alliance,said it is therefore important to float an alternative political force apart from the bi-partisan political force.
The alliance is comprised of CPB, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal, Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist), Ganasanghati Andolan, United Communist League of Bangladesh, Ganatantrik Biplabi Party and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Andolan.
