BNP holds protest rally in Dhaka for Khaleda Zia

Dhaka, July 20 (Just News): A large number of leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its front and associate organisations on Friday held a protest rally at Nayapaltan in Dhaka city for the unconditional release and better treatment of jailed party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

As part of the countrywide programme, BNP organised the rally in front of its central office.

Leaders and activists of the party from different parts of Dhaka city and adjacent districts gathered at the venue from about 2:00 pm with procession and chanting anti-government slogans.

The protest rally began around 3:00 pm and was presided by BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

Additional police was deployed around the rally venue.

Armoured Personnel Carrier, police water cannon vehicles were placed near the spot.

Movement of vehicles on one side of the street in front of BNP central office was closed.

Khaleda Zia was sentenced to five years in jail in a graft case by a special Dhaka judge’s court on February 8 and sent to old Dhaka central jail.
