BNP, Jamaat allege vote rigging in Sylhet

Sylhet, July 30 (Just News): BNP and Jamaat mayor candidates in Sylhet City Corporation Monday made allegations that their polling agents are either thrown out from or not allowed to enter the centres.

BNP candidate Ariful Haque Chowdhury Monday claimed his agents are not allowed to enter.

“Out agents are facing problem in entering centres in 19, 20 and 21 wards. Armed Chatra League and Jubo League activists chased our agents in front of the law enforcing forces,” he said.

Chowdhury alleged that AL activists last night stuffed ballot boxes with stamp ballots at Kazi Jalal Academy centre.

We complained to the Election Commission several times earlier, but there was no use, he said.

Nevertheless, I will go to the office lodge complaint today, he added.
Meanwhile, Jamaat mayor candidate Ahasan Mahbub Jobayer Monday alleged that his polling agents are thrown out from different centres.

“We fear that the polls will not free and fair as Awami League activists are taking control over different polling centres and stamping ballots,” he said.
