Among them, Asad and Jahangir Alam remain absconding.

Talking to reporters at Dhaka Metropolitan Media Centre on Thursday afternoon, additional commissioner (DB) of DMP said that as the accident sparked student protests across the country, the investigation has been done within one month on priority basis.

"We expect that the court will start the trial soon and it will be finished expeditiously. The highest punishment for the offence will be life term imprisonment," said the DMP official.

It was found in the investigation that the accident took place following the competition of two drivers of the vehicles of 'Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan'.

Earlier on 29 July, Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib, first year students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College, were killed as a bus ploughed through some students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital on Airport Road in the capital.
