Maritime ports asked to hoist signal no 3

Dhaka, Sep 20 (Just News): Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no three as the depression over East-central Bay and adjoining area moved West northwestwards and lies over the west-central Bay and adjoining area.

It was centred at 9 am on Thursday about 700kmssouthwest of Chattogram port, 655kmssouthwest of Cox's Bazar port, 580kmssouth-southwest of Mongla port and 575kmssouth-southwest of Payra port.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction. Under its influence steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay and adjoining area.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 44kmsof the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls.

Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre. Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
